This image taken from Cloverfield which was a movie mainly filmed via a hand held camera, its quirky glitchy movements created the sense of danger and panic which was also highlighted in the narrative. the colours are very warm with the little ball lights creating more of an ambiance which isn’t really shown in many horror films as many purely focus on dark images with hues of bald emotion emitting reds or blues.
The cinematographer for this film was Michael Bonvillian who has worked on Lost, Alias and Eli Stone.
This screen grab is taken from The Blair Witch Project. I am going to reflect tree stalks similar to these in my cinematography film piece using various lights to enhance the overall look of the picture to create a warm but eerie atmosphere. Much like the movie Blair Witch Project itself.
The cinematographer for this movie was Neal Fredericks who also worked on the 2001 mystery thriller Killer Me.
Left it a bit late :/
I didnt realise that i had to write such an indepth blog after reading some on the Staffs uni Blackboard site i had a major :O moment and so I started my blog.. Better late than never! (Many apologies to my assignment markers/lecturers)
The cinematograper for The Amityville Horror was done by Peter Lyons Collister who also did the same for light comedy movies like Mr Deeds and Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo. After doing these neutral toned movies it is interesting to see how he changed to adapt to a more darker horror atmosphere.
